Kingdom Enduro 2018: Day 1 -The beginning of badass
Mikey Allen’s war report
Waking up early to a soaked morning, everyone hoped and hold fingers for dry conditions, but it wasn’t to be. What lay ahead was a true African blessing for the first Kingdom Enduro: Rain, sweet rain. After we gathered at the breakfast table for some hot coffee, bacon and eggs we loaded our bikes and crammed into taxis to head off to the starting point for Day 1. Before long, legs were spinning and hearts were quickly warming up despite the rainy conditions. One thing that stood out today was the breathtaking views Lesotho is so known for. Seeing it from the epic view of your beloved steel horse is something few of us will forget.
The riding was crazy-amazing, with each stage challenging you with different obstacles and rewarding with stoke, pure stoke. Everyone made it back to HQ to compare battle scars on both bike and body. It did not take long for the first ice cold Maluti to break open the best war stories of the day. Man, what an amazing experience to be part of!
I would say day one is done, but not dusted, for it was way too wet.
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s stoke to start.
